Emotional and Informational Trajectories of Immigrants: A Longitudinal Study of Reddit Communities

Accepted for ICWSM 2027. This longitudinal study examines Reddit activity from 9,834 self-reported immigrants to Canada across pre-arrival, arrival-year, and post-arrival periods, covering 4,861,954 posts and comments. It finds modest changes in overt emotional expression but clearer shifts in self-positioning and information needs as attention turns toward the relational, institutional, and material work of settlement.
